Como asesores fiscales internacionales, les informamos que el voto de aprobación llega tras cuatro meses de escrutinio por parte de los eurodiputados

El Parlamento Europeo ratifica el acuerdo comercial y de cooperación entre la Unión Europea y el Reino Unido. Se cierran cuatro años de negociaciones entre Londres y Bruselas y cuatro meses de escrutinio parlamentario del pacto final. El voto salió adelante por 660 votos a favor, 5 en contra y 32 abstenciones.

Como asesores fiscales internacionales les explicamos como queda el pacto final. Entrará en vigor de manera definitiva en los próximos días. Aunque no cambia el ‘statu quo’ de las normas que se estaban aplicando desde la desconexión británica en enero, pero sí elimina del todo la posibilidad de un Brexit sin acuerdo.

El voto de la Eurocámara llega tras cuatro meses de escrutinio por parte de los eurodiputados de un acuerdo que los negociadores de Londres y Bruselas lograron cerrar en la tarde de Nochebuena de 2020 tras menos de un año de intensas conversaciones entre ambos equipos, en plena pandemia.

En un tiempo récord, los equipos liderados por Michel Barnier y David Frost consiguieron cerrar un acuerdo que resolvía las espinosas cuestiones de la igualdad de condiciones a uno y otro lado del Canal de la Mancha y el sector pesquero, los grandes obstáculos para encontrar el consenso durante 2020.

Tras la tarde del 24 de diciembre, y aunque la Cámara de los Comunes británica sí aceptó revisar el acuerdo antes de terminar el 2020, la Eurocámara rechazó acelerar el escrutinio para dar el visto bueno al pacto en menos de una semana de forma que entrase en vigor para el 1 de enero, el primer día con el Reino Unido completamente desvinculado de las estructuras comunitarias.
