Como asesoría fiscal internacional, les informamos de que Turquía ha puesto freno al avance de las criptomonedas y ha anunciado la prohibición de los pagos con este dinero digital ante la falta de regulación existente y los altos riesgos que conlleva. A partir del 30 de abril, el Banco Central Turco no aceptará transacciones con criptodivisas. Las empresas tampoco podrán realizar pagos y transferencias electrónicas de fondos que impliquen plataformas de criptomonedas.
En su comunicado, el Banco Central Turco explica que su decisión se debe, además de a la falta de regulación, al potencial de actividad delictiva, y a la alta volatilidad de su valor en el mercado.
El mes pasado, el Ministerio del Tesoro y Finanzas del país, aseguró que compartía la “preocupación global” sobre el desarrollo de las criptomonedas y afirmó que estaba trabajando junto al banco central, el regulador bancario y la junta de mercados de capitales, en futuras regularizaciones.
Turquía no es el único país que desconfía de las criptomonedas. La presidenta del Banco Central Europeo, Christine Lagarde, apuntó en enero que el bitcoin facilita la actividad delictiva. Su vicepresidente, Vitor Constancio, las definió directamente como un instrumento meramente especulativo de la economía sumergida que nunca podrá sustituir a las monedas respaldadas por los bancos centrales.
